@amChromus I don’t think that Puyol is that good, but Piqué. Besides most of Barcelona’s play revolves around midfield. I dare say that the defenders have bigger responsibilities in Italy than Spain. Besides, Barcelona is so much better than the other teams in spain, so it’s hard to compare.

@Coljj you wish. the thing is silva is unique in his reading of the game. also every center back has strength. chiellini, ferninand, terry, ivanovic, vidic, pique, mertesacker, etc and etc.
but thiago has that strength, as well as extreme speed and skilled brazilian feet. however he is praised overall for his superior understanding of the game, which very few defenders have.
